Have you ever sensed that something isn't quite right, even if you can't explain why?
Rebecca Cordeaux knows exactly what her future will hold: she will marry Andy, her crush of the last five years. Once Andy is ready to settle down, she’s sure he will discover that she is his soulmate. After several small parts on stage, Rebecca knows she can become a renowned actress. Her writing also shows promise as a future author. Robots perform most human jobs that can be automated, leaving many free to pursue their personal creative interests.
But Rebecca's mother Karen fears the new world of robots, and insists her brilliant daughter join a university research team, studying the hazards of a complete robotic economy. Rebecca's father Quentin was obsessed with the subject to a degree that even her mother considered absurd, prior to his untimely death. So long as she can reserve enough of her time to pursue her true passions on the side, Rebecca half-heartedly agrees to join the research team, if only to please her widowed mother. There she joins a post-doc named Liam, whose conspiracy theories rival even those of her late father. Liam is convinced that world Republic leader William Halpert’s worldwide challenge for researchers to develop synthetic creativity will lead not to the promised utopia, in which every kind of human suffering has been eradicated, but rather to an apocalypse. Rebecca, whose best friend is her own companion bot Madeline, writes Liam off as a bot-hating conspiracy theorist, just like her father was… until she learns that her father’s death might not have been due to mere happenstance.
With Liam’s help, Rebecca learns of an underground organization known as The Renegades, where Quentin Cordeaux was considered a legend. While Liam attempts to stop Halpert’s challenge if he can, Rebecca tries to unravel the mystery of what happened to her father. Did he and many of his contemporaries die for something they knew? Who is the mysterious informant who calls himself John Doe, and only seems to want to drive her out of harm’s way? And if Halpert’s challenge is answered, will it usher in a brave new chapter in humanity’s history… or were Quentin Cordeaux’s dire predictions right all along?

C.A. Gray is a Naturopathic Medical Doctor (NMD), with a primary care practice in Tucson, Arizona. She has always been captivated by the power of a good story, fictional or otherwise, which is probably why she loves holistic medicine: a patient’s physical health is invariably intertwined with his or her life story, and she believes that the one can only be understood in context with the other.
Her favorite fictional tales have always been epic battles of good versus evil, with a strong tendency towards parable. An idealist herself, she has always been convinced that these stories have something deeply true to tell us about the human condition, and that is why we love them so much… or at least that’s why she does.
She still wants to be everything when she grows up. She moonlights as a college chemistry teacher (she has a degree in biochemistry, with minors in Spanish and Creative Writing), does theater when she gets the chance, sings, plays piano, was once a personal trainer and in coffee shop management. She is blessed with exceptionally supportive family and friends, and thanks God for them every single day!

In a world where robots have taken over most human jobs, Rebecca can focus on trying to be an artist, participating in musicals and writing a novel (studying theater and Creative Writing at college). However, she not only develops the artistic side she also studies cognitive neuroscience. When the leader of the world decides that people should investigate and try to find a way to give robots the possibility to have CREATIVITY of their own, her world gives a 180-degree turn after her co-worker Liam presents Rebecca with a group called The Renegades. A group of people who believes in conspiracy and wants to unravel what really goes on with the leaders of the world.

The story has a solid background and the plot is well though. This world where technology has evolved and you can communicate with people just by a chip in your head is quite engaging. There are lots of sci-fi elements and each one is ok.

The main character: Rebecca has some attitudes that will make you want to scream at her but ok, she is not perfect but I still like her. Liam is this handsome, intelligent and protective guy who of course is in love with her but doesn't want to admit it. Their interaction makes the story move on and is easy to read.

There were a few revelations that didn't cause the desired effect because for me they were too obvious. If you are paying attention you can predict what will happen. But the book is still good despite this fact.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this story, the characters were good and I would really like to read the next book.

RETTA . . .
Fulfilling her dying sister’s request, Retta travels across dangerous territory to marry a man she barely remembers. TWO PEOPLE . . .
Thrown together in shared sorrow, Harrison and Retta struggle to forge a life in the brand-new state of late-nineteenth-century Colorado

Retta and her daughter will travel to live and begin a life with a man who was waiting for her sister. After four years, marrying her fiancee's sister is not what Harrison was expecting but he will follow her last wish. And so a story about learning to love and protecting your family begins.

The Substitute Wife is an enchanting, easy to read and sweet love story. The tension between the main characters is understandable, neither of them wanted to marry the other but life is not always what we want.

Retta's loves for her daughter is admirable and she is a strong and likable character. Harrison is the typical gentleman, with a sense of honor and respect that makes him totally attractive. Their relationship seems quite natural and given the circumstances it flows and grows into something special. And of course, the little Addie is extremely sweet.

The plot has all the elements of a historical romance, the setting is well portrayed and the bad guys have fun messing with other people's lives.

I wanted to love it, I wanted to crave more and more but above all, I wanted to read it fast (or hear it in my case). I'm so sorry it wasn't what I expected, I'm sorry Racer didn't live up to his father's expectations. I loved the first two books by Katy Evans but then I lost track of the series, but I know you can read the books as standalone so I decided to give it a chance to Racer, and besides it was about Remy's son, come on... it had to be sexy.

It took me too long to hear it, even though the guy who reads it has a really sexy voice. My problem was the story it felt like a repetition of another story and there wasn't any big surprise. The characters sounded fake and shallow. And also he being Remy's son we can expect some mental illness throw into the mix but still, it sounded forced.

I do have to clarify that the sex scenes and the chemistry between the main characters are quite hot but not even that could save the book for me.

Review: Strange Secrets @strangebookseye

Discover the mystery of the two-headed rose and many more Strange Secrets in this new collection of extraordinary stories by Mike Russell. 'It can't be real.' 'But it is.' Strange Secrets invites you to discover the magical and the marvellous. Startlingly inventive and constantly entertaining, these unique, vital and vividly realised stories will take you to places you have never been before. Strange Secrets is Mike Russell's third short-story collection.

Mike Russell is a British author best known for his books 'Nothing Is Strange', 'Strange Medicine', and 'Strungballs'.

Mike Russell was born in 1973. He grew up in the small village of Pulborough in the south of England. As a child, he enjoyed daydreaming, art and writing strange stories. As an adult, he enjoys daydreaming, art and writing strange stories.

Mike Russell's latest book 'Strange Secrets' is now available.

Mike Russell is one of the authors I always say YES without blinking because I love that he brings something different to the table. His books always play with my head and leave me feeling odd in my body (I actually don't know how to explain it). So, I had to read his latest book Strange Secrets. This time we have 7 stories and each one is unique, strange and somehow magical.

My favorites stories were Missing Persons and Maps, even though the other stories also got me hooked from the first word. What happened with Missing Persons and Maps was that they defied my concept of reality and made me think about how I see the world and why do we see it that way. They provoke a movement in me, not only in my mind but also my emotions and feelings.

Mike has a changing writing style, it is always unique but sometimes is repetitive, sometimes is mysterious but it is always EXCELLENT. I will continue reading his books as long as he keeps writing them.

Part-time demon tracker, full-time optimist …
Talia White does what comes naturally to a unicorn: Balances the scales between light and dark with hefty doses of love and joy.
Faced with a string of high profile demon possessions, Talia is determined to do her job, despite the fact that she finds herself strapped with a brooding dragon warrior as her new guardian.
That’s the trouble with unicorns … they’ll accomplish their goal one way or another, even if they have to get a little stabby to do it.

D.T. Dyllin is a bestselling author who writes paranormal, sci-fi, and contemporary romance. Basically, anything with a love story is her kryptonite. Her obsession with affairs-of-the-heart is what first drove her to begin twisting her own tales of scorching romance.
D.T. was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (Black & Gold for life, baby!) She now lives in Raleigh, North Carolina with her husband, and two spoiled German Shepherds.

Talia is a unicorn, yes that's right a magical and beautiful creature but it's not all rainbows and cupcakes for her. An optimist at heart she has to use her powers to chase demons. And on her thirtieth birthday, her father figure/guardian is leaving her and a new guardian is coming to protect her.

Since Bryn comes into the picture tension is in the air. Imagine a sexy dragon for a guardian for a girl who has to stay a secret in order to survive. Their relationship escalates in a rush and the fire between them almost burnt my reader. And some scenes were toooooo hot, but I love them.

The story is super fast to read, the action is always present and Talia is super fun to read. Also, it was really cool to read about some of the characters that first made me fall in love with Dara and her writing.

I cannot wait to read the next book, I'm loving this new paranormal world and Talia is definitely one of my favorites heroines.

Nooooo. I refuse to continue with that ending. OMG!! You cannot end the book there. I need the second book NOW, like yesterday.

Well, let me tell you what this is about. Georgia Kentley is a police officer who has to deal with a new boss right after breaking up with her long-term boyfriend/best friend. She is a brave woman who due to some events in her past has a strong shield around her, hates being the damsel in distress and works as hard as any man. Then we have the new DCI Walker Trent. At first, he misjudges Georgia and is a bit of a misogynistic. But quickly they have to join forces to catch the bad guy.

The book has a fast passing, the events come and go one after the other. Their past are quickly shared with us so we see where each one is standing. There are some predictable moments but they are ok.

I read it in just a few hours. The book is not too long and the writing is simple and easy to read, those are a few of the reasons why I couldn't put it down. I'm sure that if life wouldn't have put in the middle I would have read it faster. If you like this kind of romance you will devour it as fast as me.

I know the romance it's a bit rushed but this doesn't make it any less enjoyable. The book contains some sex scenes with the right doses of sensuality and hotness.
